One in 7 Billion

7 Billion, 686 million, 431 thousand, 527.

That’s the number of people living on this earth right now.

7 Billion, 686 million, 431 thousand, 527.

And sometimes, if you’re incredibly lucky, all you need is just one person. Just one of those 7 billion souls to truly believe that you have something special to offer the world. Just one who never seems to fail at bringing out the best in you. Just one person who reminds you how incredibly loved you are. Why not try to be that one for somebody?

Each day we’re faced with a seemingly endless array of decisions to make. What should we have for breakfast? What time should we leave the house for work? What time should we exercise?

But despite all these small decisions we make throughout the course of a day, one of the most important decisions we make is how we decide to treat the people we interact with. Are you going to express hostility and hate or are you going to extend kindness and grace?

You never know what someone else is going through. That cashier that was rude to you at the grocery store may be mourning the loss of a loved one. That guy that flipped you off on the freeway may have just been laid off from his job. Your friend that didn't answer your text may be dealing with so much stress from work that they just haven't found the time to reply yet. And yes, some people are just mean. But as cliché as it sounds, hurt people really do hurt people. Odds are, anyone who is seemingly mean has experienced hurt in their life that was never properly dealt with or worked through. As a result, they take their anger out on other people so that everyone around them knows just how bad it feels to be hurt like them.

But each of us have the power to pour positivity into a world that is seemingly drowning in negativity. While it's easy to respond with anger and frustration to those who are negative around us, most of the time what they really need is to be shown a little bit of patience, a little bit of grace, and a whole lot of love. Maybe they haven't been getting that from the people around them, but each of us have the power to show them those things. Each of us have the power to be that one.
